From Japan's volcanic mountains

The power of our lava stones

What makes a lava-stone steam different from an ordinary sauna? It starts with the stones — their volcanic origin, their mineral makeup, and the gentle, radiant heat they give off.

The discovery

Our story

Our steam pods are lined with lava stones sourced from the Dekiyamakouzan volcanic mountain in Japan's Aichi region — a mineral-rich site whose distinctive stones (known locally as "708") have been prized for generations.

It's what makes us Houston's only lava-stone steam spa — and why a session here feels different from an ordinary sauna.

Ancient origins

How the lava tourmaline formed

The tourmaline in our stones began as mineral-rich mud thousands of meters below sea level. Over millions of years, volcanic activity and immense pressure compressed and transformed it into hard, crystalline tourmaline.

That slow, natural process is why the stones carry the far-infrared warmth and mineral character that define a lava-stone steam session.

What makes them special

Natural properties of the stone

The qualities that set Japanese lava tourmaline apart — described as characteristics of the mineral itself.

8–12 μm

Far-infrared warmth — a gentle, deeply radiant heat

Ion-rich

Naturally releases negative ions (anions) as it heats

Tourmaline

Volcanic mineral formed over millions of years

Mine 708

Sourced from the Dekiyamakouzan mountain, Japan

These describe the natural mineral properties of our lava stones. A lava steam session is a relaxing wellness experience and is not a substitute for medical care.
